From the Male Privilege Checklist:
#44 Complete strangers do not generally walk up to me on the street and tell me to “smile.”
I read this last night, and it happened to me this morning (as it has many times in the past.) I used to think I was being uptight when I was bothered by random men telling me to “smile” when passing on the street. But I now realize that I find that behavior kind of demeaning because it is kind of demeaning.
The Male Privilege Checklist is based on the White Privilege Checklist. Reminiscent of Teach for America DCA (diversity training) sessions. But more thought provoking – everyone should check it out.

Just ask Eddie Murphy about white privilege.
